How to make you PC faster
Each time we use our PC we observe it getting slower it can be due to various reasons such as installing software, browsing internet, saving, cut, copy, paste & deleting files activity and a lot of dust accumulated with time. These processes tend to gradually slow your PC down. You can use these simple tips to make sure your PC is back on its performance.
1. UNINSTALL UNWANTED SOFTWARE
This is the most common reason for a slow PC. Usually we install a lot of software intentionally or unintentionally, these tend to slow down the processor and uses unwanted space and RAM. To remove all these programs and software that no longer use anymore, Open the Control Panel, Click on Programs and Features page, and go through the list of installed software. Uninstall those that you do not need, take caution before uninstalling software that is used to run your computer’s hardware (audio, video, Bluetooth, etc). If u need any help regarding this feel free to contact me or someone who can help you before uninstalling some programs.
Choose the unwanted software and click uninstall.
2. CONFIGURE THE START UP SOFTWARES
Windows lets you configure which installed software to run as soon as your PC boots up. By only allowing important software to run and prevent the unnecessary software from running at start we can improve the speed of the PC.
To do this, click “Start” and “Run”. In “Run”, type “msconfig” and then press enter. You should then see the “Startup” tab, with all the programs ticked the ones which will load upon your computer starting up.
On windows 8 and higher you can find the start up tab on the Task manager, to open task manager press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and click on the Start up tab to configure them. There is a good chance the list will contain a number of programs you might not have realized were running on your computer during startup, or even at all.
3. DISK CLEAN UP
Disk clean up is a very useful software in windows which cleans up old cache, temp files, offline pages, old setup files, windows update residue and other unwanted files.
To open Disk clean if you are running windows 8 and above, press windows key + s to search, and then search for disk clean and click on the following as the image below shows.
If u are running windows 7 and lower open Disk Cleanup by clicking “Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup”
Tick all the files you don't need. Click on system files to clear out old windows update installation back ups. Unless you know what you want to keep remove everything, cause these files are just old cache and temporary windows files.
4. DISK DEFRAGMENT
Disk Defragment is an other windows program that helps in arranging fragments (de-fragmenting) of data on your hard-disk drive. What the program does is it removes fragments of data from different sectors on the drive and makes it easier for the processor to access data in each sector quickly as it wont have too many data fragments to access and check .. in layman's terms makes the PC faster ;)
5. CLEAR THE DESKTOP
Numerous shortcut icons, pics, files & folders on the desktop slow down the PC. Desktop is the first thing that shows up after the pc has finished booting up, and if there is a lot on the desktop it'll slow it down. so remove or move all the files folder and icons to a different drive as this will reduce the start up load of your PC
6. INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS

7. OLD PC? PROBABLY NEEDS CLEANING
As time passes dust accumulates on the fan and other parts of the PC/ laptop, this dust can be your worst enemy and it can impede the air circulation through the fan causing your PC to heat up and slow down. If you know how to open your PC/laptop you could open it and clean it, if not use a vacuum cleaner or a dust blower to blow the dust away.
